Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do your arrangements include percussion parts?
No. I include some suggestions for battery and pit parts but they are incomplete. I do have percussion arrangers that I can refer you to who will do a much better job than I ever could in that area.

2. Can I get a sample score for perusal?
Yes. But you will only receive the odd-numbered pages of the requested score, as this will help deter any copyright infringements that could possibly take place.

3. Is there anyway that I can get recordings of your arrangements?
Definitely! If you are interested in hearing recordings of my arrangements just send me an email and I can send you to the correct webpage to go to to listen to them.

4. How much do you charge for a full show?
If you contact me by email I can go over the prices with you.

5. How can I sign up for you to design my show this year?Marching Band Picture
I set up my writing schedule to give priority to clients from the previous year. I only write for 12 bands each year (to maintain the quality of the arrangements) so they have first opportunity to sign up before new customers can. November 1st of each year is when new clients can contact me and request a writing slot. When November 1st arrives it is based on first come first serve. A down payment and return of the signed contract is needed to solidify a writing spot.

6. Are revisions included in your price?
Yes, changes are be included in the price. The only exceptions to that is if the band director changes his mind in terms of show concept, or wants to go in a different direction musically with a piece after it has already been written.

7. When is the money due?
The payment is broken up into 2 installments; the first is due within 30 days of the return of the contract to myself, and the second is due 30 days after you receive the final product. I can be flexible with payments if special considerations are needed. As a former director myself I know that it can be a hassle to get money sometimes from the school board. I would like to be able to provide my arrangements for any school that wants to use them.

8. Do we need copyright permission to use your previous band arrangements?
Yes! Permission is needed for all marching band arrangements. The only exceptions are public domain pieces or if you are doing one of my marching band compositions, in which case copyright is included. I suggest that once you solidify your show music choice for the upcoming year that you get started right away at obtaining copyright permission for all of your works as this will help me get started quicker. Some pieces of music require more time to get permission, and some are always denied. For any questions on this please visit CopyCat Music Licensing. Permission is needed before I can start an arrangement.

9. How long does it take you to do a show?
This answer depends on so many things- my schedule, if I have the score or if I have to transcribe the music, if the piece is an original composition, etc. Usually, it takes about 2-3 weeks for each show, as I make sure every part will work for every student in the band. I pride myself on the playability of my arrangements while still making them exciting.
